Green Line Walking Tour
Walk Beirut’s Green Line and discover a powerful story of memory, survival, and resilience through the streets that shaped the city.
-
Walk the former Green Line from the National Museum and Damascus Road toward Sodeco, Bachoura, Downtown Beirut, and Saint George Bay.
Read the city through its scars: abandoned heritage buildings, damaged façades, empty lots, and war-marked urban fragments.
Discover buildings on and around the Green Line that remain abandoned today, raising questions about memory, ownership, and neglect.
Explore street art and visual traces inspired by the Lebanese Civil War, resistance, loss, and post-war identity.
Cross one of Beirut’s most symbolic divides: from once East Beirut in the Nasra area into once West Beirut through Bachoura.
Enter Bachoura’s layered urban fabric: old houses, inner courts, historic alleys, threatened heritage, and surviving community life.
Discuss how wartime displacement, real-estate speculation, and post-war reconstruction reshaped neighborhoods along the route.
Pass through Downtown Beirut with a critical look at the controversial 1990s reconstruction, including the architectural and archaeological losses often described as a “massacre.”
End at Saint George Bay, now known as Zaitunay Bay, near the site of the Battle of the Hotels; one of the earliest and most symbolic battles of the Lebanese Civil War.
